The 2015 Cannes Lions Festival is over. Here at WD we are going to be picking some of our favorites that exemplify premium brands in creative and innovative ways.
“Ripple” for Nike Golf by Wieden + Kennedy won a Gold Lion in the Film category. Yet again, aspirational story telling in the world of sports wins vote and tugs at the emotions of the viewer. In the similar vein of lifespan montages, of athletes who have had success in the past (ex. P&G‘s “Olympics Mom” ads), we are able to follow a developing story of a hardworking young Rory McIlroy who becomes a success story. Watching his hero, Tiger Woods, from afar, working hard (with subtle product placement) and eventually meeting this childhood hero as a competitive equal. People enjoy watching story development, especially when it is a story of hard work that leads to success.Subscribe to Insights
